Valleseco

After sampling a taste of the refreshingly charming atmosphere of Moya, why don t you try next what the town of Valleseco is also more than willing to offer? If you want to know what the name of this town literally translates to, well, it s actually synonymous to mean Dry Valley. The longer you stay in this town, however, the more you will realize that the term Dry Valley is kind of ironical to describe the town of Valleseco -- because it has more annual rainfall than any other town in Gran Canaria.
Since Valleseco is relatively small and generally remote, there s not much to occupy yourself with, compared to other bustling metropolitan cities and lively towns of Gran Canaria. However, you will not leave the place disappointed in any way, because the town still offers sites you can enjoy visiting. First, we recommend the Iglesia de San Vicente Ferrer. Its original chapel is really quite ancient, dating back to as early as the first half of the 17th century. After that, you may want to drop by the Laguna de Valleseco, also known in the area as Valleseco Lagoon. During winter, it is filled to capacity with sparkling fresh water. Recently, it has undergone environmental restoration programs, which has been really beneficial to bring back its former natural beauty. All in all, the town of Valleseco is what it appears to be, a sleepy village situated amidst lush mountains.

Oh, and one more thing, if you are a bird enthusiast, you may want to check out Valleseco during winter. There are many migratory birds, such as the typical egret, which flock the town to while away the cold months.
